This policy explains what information Everyday Tech Reviews collects when you visit the site, sign up for the newsletter, leave a comment or contact us; why we collect it; who we share it with; and the choices you have. It is written for people, not lawyers.
Who we are
Everyday Tech Reviews is an independent, owner-run publication based in Kentucky, United States. For anything in this policy, including requests about your data, email support@everydaytechreviews.com. Postal address: PO Box 96, Paintsville, KY 41240, USA.
What we collect, why, and on what basis
Visiting the site
Like every website, our hosting provider (Bluehost, part of Newfold Digital) keeps standard server logs: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you request, the referring page, and the time. We use these to keep the site running and secure, to block abuse, and to diagnose errors. Logs rotate on the host’s normal schedule. Legal basis where one is required: our legitimate interest in operating a secure website.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 (through Google’s Site Kit plugin) to understand which guides help people and how visitors arrive. It records pages viewed, approximate location derived from your IP address (Google does not store the full address), device and browser details, and the source of your visit. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, analytics storage stays off until you accept it in the consent notice. You can also block Google Analytics everywhere with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
Advertising
We show ads served by Google AdSense. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet. You may opt out of personalised advertising in Google’s Ads Settings, and you can opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info/choices. Google explains what it collects at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, personalised ads are shown only if you consent in the notice; otherwise you see non-personalised ads. Google may work with certified ad technology partners; Google publishes the list of those providers.
Newsletter
If you subscribe, we store your email address, your name if you give it, the time and IP address of the sign-up, whether each email was opened and which links were clicked, and your subscription status. The list is managed by MailerLite (MailerLite Limited, Ireland) as our processor. Basis: your consent when you sign up. Every email carries an unsubscribe link and our postal address; unsubscribing takes effect immediately, and we keep only a suppression record so you are not added again by mistake. We never sell, rent or swap the list. MailerLite’s privacy policy is at mailerlite.com.
Comments
When you comment, WordPress stores the name, email address and website you enter, the comment itself, your IP address and browser string (used for spam detection). Your comment, name and website are public. A hashed form of your email address may be sent to the Gravatar service (Automattic) to check whether you have a profile picture there; Automattic’s policy is at automattic.com/privacy. Comments may be checked by an automated anti-spam service. Comments stay with the article until you ask us to remove them. Basis: our legitimate interest in running a discussion you asked to join.
Contacting us
Messages sent through the contact form (Jetpack Forms, by Automattic) are stored in our WordPress site and forwarded to our mailbox; emails sent directly go to our mailbox. We keep them as long as needed to respond and for our records, normally no longer than two years. Basis: responding to your request.
Affiliate links
Clicking an Amazon link takes you to Amazon with our Associates ID attached. Amazon then sets its own cookies under Amazon’s privacy notice. We receive aggregate reports of clicks and qualifying purchases; we never receive your identity, address, payment details or order history.
Embedded content and social media
Some pages embed videos or posts from YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, Threads or Bluesky. Embedded content behaves exactly as if you had visited that service: it may set cookies, record your visit and interact with an account you are logged into there. Our own profiles on those services are governed by their policies; when you interact with us there, we see only what the platform shows page administrators.
Site performance, security and images
We use Jetpack (Automattic) for site statistics, security and its image accelerator. Images served through the accelerator are fetched from Automattic’s servers, which see your IP address in the process. Jetpack statistics count visits in aggregate. Automattic’s policy is at automattic.com/privacy.

Who we share information with
We share personal information only with the service providers that make the site work, listed below, each under its own privacy policy and, where required, a data processing agreement. We do not sell personal information.

We may also disclose information when the law requires it, to protect our rights or the safety of readers, or as part of a sale or transfer of the site, in which case this policy continues to apply to the transferred information.
International transfers
We are based in the United States and our providers process data there and in other countries. If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, your information is transferred to the United States. Our providers rely on recognised safeguards such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep information
- Server logs: rotated by the host, typically within weeks.
- Analytics: kept for the retention period set in Google Analytics (fourteen months or less), then only in aggregate.
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe, plus a suppression record of the address.
- Comments: as long as the article is published, or until you ask us to remove them.
- Contact messages and emails: as long as needed to respond, normally no longer than two years.
Your rights and choices
Wherever you live, you can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, unsubscribe from the newsletter, or object to how we use it. Email support@everydaytechreviews.com; we will verify the request by replying to the address on file and respond within thirty days (forty-five where the law allows).
European Economic Area, United Kingdom and Switzerland. You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, and the right to withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier processing. You may complain to your local data protection authority.
California and other US states. You have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to delete it, to correct it, to opt out of its sale or sharing, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell personal information. Advertising cookies used for cross-context behavioural advertising can count as “sharing” under California law; you can opt out with the Google links above or by sending a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser, which our advertising provider’s consent tools honour where they recognise it. We honour the same requests from residents of every US state, whether or not a state law technically applies to a site of our size.
Children
This site is written for adults making purchase decisions and is not directed to children under thirteen. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under thirteen, and we do not sell the personal information of anyone under sixteen. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS, administrative access is limited and protected with strong credentials, and our providers apply their own security programmes. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise absolute security.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Browsers can send a Do Not Track header; there is no agreed standard for it, so this site does not change its behaviour in response. A Global Privacy Control signal is treated as an opt-out of targeted advertising where our advertising provider’s tools recognise it, and you can always use the opt-out links above.
Changes to this policy
We update this page when our tools or practices change and adjust the date at the top. Material changes will be announced in the newsletter or on the site.
